Purpose
Escharotomy is an emergency burn surgery procedure performed to release circumferential, non-elastic burn eschar that is causing vascular compromise, respiratory restriction, tissue ischemia, or impending compartment syndrome.
The procedure restores tissue perfusion and physiologic expansion by incising the constricting eschar while preserving viable underlying structures.
